Biography
Cole Hastings Goldstein is a furniture designer specializing in lighting design and mixes traditional craft with modern technology, such as 3D printers, CNCs, and lasers.
Cole Hastings Goldstein received a Bachelor’s of Fine Art in Crafts from Kutztown University in 2012 concentrating in Furniture Design and minoring in Fine Metals and Product Design. He then went on to receive a Master’s of Fine Art in Studio Art from Maine College of Art in 2016. His master’s thesis, “A Maker’s Manifesto”, illustrated a view that blending of traditional and contemporary fabrication techniques are needed to move forward in a contemporary practice.
He has been working with additive manufacturing for approximately seven years and computer aided-design for eighteen years. He is now the Director of Advanced Manufacturing Technologies at Johnson College in Scranton, Pennsylvania, while additionally running a small bespoke furniture design company. He is very active in the local arts community; working with the arts council, and is always searching for how he can aide local non-profit organizations.
